How Generation Atomic is Reframing the Nuclear Energy Conversation
In this episode of Clean Currents, we talk with Eric Meyer, the founder of Generation Atomic, a grassroots group using music, memes, and hands-on education to change how people see nuclear energy.
Eric started out as an opera singer. But after experiencing a major flood and learning more about climate change, he made a sharp pivot. He realized nuclear energy was misunderstood and that better communication could make a real difference.
Generation Atomic was born out of that moment. Since then, Eric and his team have helped prevent reactor closures, trained thousands of advocates, and built tools to make nuclear education more accessible from card games for kids to ambassador programs for adults.
We also talk about what’s changing. More policymakers support nuclear. More utilities are investing in new tech. And more people are curious. But Eric says we still have a long way to go, especially when most people still believe nuclear emits carbon.
The key to shifting that? Clear messaging. Engaging stories. And meeting people where they are online, in classrooms, or at town halls.
